First Job: Paper Route at 12 years old.

First “Real” Job: Founding and running a small business while in college. The experience provided a great education that laid the foundation for future endeavors.

Essential Business Philosophy: The customer comes first and never forgetting that there is one person that can fire everyone in a company - from the front line employees to the Chairman of the Board - the Customer!

Best way to keep a competitive edge: Perhaps the only sustainable competitive advantage in business is the ability to continually learn faster than our competition and putting that learning into action.

Yardstick of success: Employee and customer engagement. They stay with you and invest more with you because you serve them well and help them get what they want better than anyone else.

Goal yet to be achieved: IMS continually improving to become our customers' best service provider.

Judgment Calls

Best Decision: Becoming part of the IMS team!

Worst Decision: Hanging on to a particular leadership role in a prior life a bit too long when my instincts told me to let go of it long before I actually did.

Toughest Decision: Having to part ways with folks that either couldn’t or wouldn’t evolve in ways commensurate with the changing needs of businesses I was responsible for.

Mentor: Although I’ve been fortunate to have many mentors that have had a significant impact in my journey, my father stands out as #1. His character, creativity, work ethic, accountability, and determination to do the right thing were paramount.

Personal Interests: Spending time with my family, boating, and golf.
