Myanmar has the potential to quadruple its current GDP to US dollars 200 billion in 2030. Business Opportunity of Myanmar’s Furniture / Timber Wood
Myanmar is well endowed with forest resources and a perfect location beside the biggest furniture demand market for wood processing. The local wood processing factories with laggard equipment certainly will face strong competition from the foreign companies. Owing to laggard technique of furniture manufacturing, most of Myanmar’s logs are directly exported after basic processing. There is a lack of local furniture manufacturers in Myanmar.

Myanmar based raw materials as bamboo has been dropping .Despite being the third largest country for bamboo goods in the world, income generated from this trade is far less than neighboring countries due to lack of labor skill, technology and machinery and access to modern design .

Wood material held a market share of around 60% in 2019 and is projected to observe 5.1% CAGR during 2020 to 2026. Wooden framing is the preferred choice of architectural and construction firms in their endeavors to build a ‘Green Building’, through the use of environmental – friendly materials.
The other material segment includes composite materials such as wood plastic, bamboo, glass, and cane. These materials are gaining popularity due to the rising demand for durable & lightweight products in construction sector. Bamboo fibers are utilized in residential buildings on account of their strength, cost, and flexibility.
Myanmar market is set to witness lucrative growth through 2020 propelled by improved construction spending from consumers.
